It's at 3:30 at Sapphire on Dec 11th.

I've seen him at 2 summits, listened to all of his masterminds, know 6 guys who have taken his bootcamp, and seen him out a few times at Surrender. During summit he pushed a tall jacked summit dude out of set and took both his girls, eventually pulled one of them.

Out of all the very advanced pickup guys, Derek seems like he has the principles of masculinity most deeply etched into his being. Every time he talks, he brings up the same couple principles over and over. A newer guy or a guy who without much success in a major dicipline may not be able to learn a lot from him since they think he doesn't have much to say; they don't understand what it means to deeply etch a principle. I think this video is a good demonstration of it.

It's BJ Penn as a white belt beating a Judo black belt, and he makes it look easy. He isn't doing anything too complicated, just executing a deep understanding of very simple grappling principles.

In one of his talks he mentioned how he wouldn't want to get to know most of hot girls in the club. I didn't think about this too much until I saw a glimpse of him infield, and this world view was pretty aparent in his subcoms. He didn't seem to do it in way to cause a particular reaction and probably wasn't even thinking about it. It's sorta like how girls interact with guys who approach them; the girls can be super polite and maybe into the guy, but since most guys who approach posses particular low quality traits, they auto-assume that with anyone they're talking to until they prove otherwise.

I feel that Todd and Julien reversed engineered (at least at first) this to throw girls off her rhythem. I feel that Derek just absolutely believes it, and you can't totally hide something like that if you're loose. I remember talking to a girl who did something I didn't think too highly of (I think she droped out of stem degree to go to cooking school) and I just said 'oh', but my tonality gave away that I didn't feel too highly of her decision, and called me out on it haha.

What exactly has he done

What exactly has he done that's etched the principles of masculinity most deeply into his being? He's a real estate guy, lol. The dude took 6 or 7 bootcamps with Rsd back in the day.

Just real estate? Dunno the guy's full background, but he's been described as masculine inspiration to many of the RSD instructors. Julien mentioned he thought he had a pretty solid masculine energy, but then being around Derek he said he realized how 'faggy' he is. Maybe it's just a his vibe he got down, like good actor studying a particular vibe. But there are more masculine backgrounds than just real estate; ie military combat experience, leading a large company or government, growing up in a hostile enviroment, etc.

Yes they all help brand each

Yes they all help brand each other he's apparently billed as the "masculine" Rsd coach. I've known Derek for awhile, there's a lot I could say about the guy that I won't. He's an alright guy he's got game but some of his inner workings and game are a little overcompensatory. There's a difference between being masculine and simply being rigid and inflexible. And no he can't fight, he's not ex-military, he does real estate. Back when they were selling this "ultra-masculine" Derek persona they were telling it with a story where he submitted his girlfriend's dog in front of her family and all the guys acted really impressed with that. I almost cringed. If you have to submit a dog, do it, but not to show off that's awful. I've submitted plenty of dogs before, because I had to, not because I was showing off how masculine I was.

That brings a lot of sense to my perspective of Derek. Some of his actions do seem a little over the top, but I'm a begginer so I don't really have a foundation to criticize someone whose is vastly more succesful than I am. You can though lol

Just realize that 9,999 out

Just realize that 9,999 out of 10,000 times a BJJ black belt will completely destroy a white belt (I know cuz I'm still a white belt lol).

^ That IS true.

^ That IS true. The only reason I ever started critiquing my peers on this level is because of the Julien fiasco. When I saw that it was absolutely a necessity.

A purple belt would give a similiar stat. Mostly likely even a blue belt. BJ is one in a million.

My point was that a ton of experience, knowledge and refinement does come out looking like simple actions.

Glad you do, you brought perspective to a lot of other issues I suspected as well. Todd's style being dehumanizing. Tyler's over the top reaction to that one cockblock a while back. etc.
