Yeah mainstream culture is starting to see how stupid everything is. I know it seems like this is "as bad as it gets", but its outright lunacy is what's going to turn the tide.

It's very basic dude. The catholic church repressed sexuality/controlled it, so they could turn everyone into their worker slaves. This is one of the basic premises of social control.
